Dr. Alan Scharf, D.D.S  | Dr. Gregory Indyke, D.M.D.  | Dr. Jonathan Baron, D.D.S  |
Dr. Alan Scharf, D.D.S

In 1977, Dr. Alan Scharf graduated from the University of Buffalo with Cum Laude Honors in Biology. He then went on to attend the University of Buffalo School of Dentistry, graduating with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) in 1981. In 1982, he completed his post graduate residency at Baltimore City Hospital (now Johns Hopkins Hospital - Bayview Medical Center) in Baltimore, Maryland. From 1982-1985, Dr. Scharf worked in a group private practice in Forest Hill, Maryland. In 1985, Dr. Alan Scharf founded his own practice, Bel Air Dental Care, in Fallston, Maryland. In 1990, Dr. Scharf received his fellowship from the Academy of General Dentistry. 

Dr. Scharf is a member of the American Dental Association, the Maryland State Dental Association, Harford-Cecil County Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He has been active in the Harford County Community with involvement in the Harford Leadership Academy, local school dental education programs, and is an active speaker in various community groups. Doctor Scharf received rookie builder of the year from Chesapeake Habitat for Humanity. 

During his free time, Dr. Scharf enjoys both playing and coaching basketball and baseball.
He also enjoys biking, and hiking.

 

Dr. Gregory Indyke, D.M.D.

In 1972, Dr. Gregory Indyke graduated from Ithaca College. 1973-1974, he worked for the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C., while attending American University. After being accepted to the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Indyke graduated in 1977 with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.). He then spent the next two years completing a dental residency training program at Baltimore City Hospital (now Johns Hopkins Hospital - Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. During his second year he oversaw and supervised first year residents in all phases of clinical dentistry. From 1979 to 1983, Dr. Indyke maintained a private practice at the Greater Dundalk Medical Center in Baltimore, while serving as attending staff dentist in the Department of Oral Medicine and Maxillo-Facial Surgery at Baltimore City Hospital. His hospital duties included treating patients, teaching/ lecturing dental and medical residents, administrating, and serving on the Medical Records and Operating Room Committee. 

In 1983, Dr. Indyke was appointed an assistant professor in the Departments of Oral Health Delivery, and Crown & Bridge at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, where he taught for 5 years. During this time, Dr. Indyke also maintained a private practice within the faculty practice, and in 1985 began a part-time association with Dr. Scharf at Bel Air Dental Care.
In 1993, after working full time with Dr. Scharf since 1987, Dr. Indyke became a partner in the practice, providing care in all phases of clinical dentistry. 

Dr. Indyke is a member of the American Dental Association, the Maryland State Dental Association, Harford-Cecil County Dental Association, and the American Academy of
General Dentistry. 

In his spare time, Dr. Indyke plays classical violin, and is an avid skier and runner.

Dr. Jonathan Baron, D.D.S

Dr. Jonathan Baron spent the first two years of his higher education studying in Western Asia. While completing his Bachelors in Talmudic Law in Baltimore he attended Towson University and participated in the pre-med and pre-dental program. He graduated from the University of Maryland Dental School, the first dental school in the world. At this point, Dr Baron, a native New Yorker was happy to have broken from the hectic lifestyle of New York City. Nonetheless, his appreciation of the value in obtaining post graduate education brought him to the Bronx, NY, for advanced hospital based training. He obtained a certificate of completion from the General Practice Residency at St Barnabas Hospital. Next, Dr Baron, attended Jacobi Medical Center, Bronx, NY, as the chief resident of the General Practice Residency. He graduated from Jacobi, receiving a certificate in General Practice and a Fellowship in Oral Implantology.

Dr. Barons cutting edge training in both the surgical and restorative aspects of implant dentistry are a valuable resource to patients seeking replacement of missing teeth or improving the retention of removable dentures. He is educated in invisible braces for the correction of malpositoned teeth, and provides Invisalign to our patients. Dr. Baron joined Dr. Scharf and
Dr. Indyke in their group dental practice in 2009.

Dr Baron is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry and has lectured to dentists on the topic of dental implants. He is available to speak for local groups on topics related to oral health.

Dr Baron lives with his wife and their two children in Baltimore County.
